RMCT is Honored to be Hosting a
One-Time Limited Engagement of
'Freres Jacques' with Mark Olsen
at the University of Denver

 Saturday, January 10, 7:00 pm

'Freres Jacques', features Mark Olsen playing the legendary mime and movement artist Jacques Lecoq.  Comic in nature and surprisingly humorous, 'Freres Jacques' is a recreation of Lecoq's famous lecture demos, and incorporates mime, mask, and the language of gesture.  A tour de force performance at a length of 80 minutes, with a discussion following, 'Freres Jacques' explores all approaches to theatre and movement inherent in theatre.  With a nimble and playful relationship to the audience, the piece itself is done in French with an English interpreter.  It has historical significance, as it represents the turning point at which American theatre training began to adopt the work of Lecoq, who is represented throughout the play.  'Freres Jacques' has been performed at a number of Universities and schools across U.S., including Bucknell, Sarah Lawrence, Texas State, and others.  RMCT's production of 'Freres Jacques' will be held at the University of Denver's Margery Reed Hall in the Little Theatre.

RMCT is delighted to bring to Denver such an enlightening seminar.  This youth-focused workshop directed by Mark Olsen is a two-part endeavor.  The first half will concentrate on the audition process.  Each participant will be asked to do a short monologue (one minute) and everyone will read with others from “sides” that will be provided.   Mr. Olsen will interview each of them as if they were interviewing for professional theatres.   Afterwards, everyone will receive feedback and any helpful notes for improvement.

The second part will be devoted to a Question and Answer session aimed at revealing the ins and outs of the New York marketplace.  We will cover the realities of living as an actor in New York and the current trends in casting and strategies for getting work in New York in all mediums.

The entire theme, obviously, is 'Preparation for the Profession'.  The focus will be on the Broadway marketplace.
